This was done in order to determine, in a legal basis, that the trading post of Moody Farewell was in Newcastle District. This meant the murder of John Sharp took place in Newcaslte District and the murder trial must be held at Newcastle, on Presqu'ile Point. That is why the Speedy sailed a month later and was lost.
