Transcript of the first document: From Hinesburgh, Chittenden Co., VT – Land Records – Vol. 15, 1856 – 1862, Page 419.; William Weller; Quit-Claim deed to Richard Weller; Know all men by these presents that I, William, Weller, of the Town of Cobourg in the County of Northumberland and Province of Canada, Esquire, In consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid by Richard Weller of Hinesburgh in the county of Chittenden in the State of Vermont one of the United States of America, farmer, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have granted bargained sold released and assigned and do hereby grant bargain sell release assign and convey unto the said Richard Weller his heirs and assigns all the right title and interest whatsoever and howsoever of me the said William Weller of in to and out of all the lands tenements hereditaments and premises of which my late father David Weller did seized possession or entitled to as heir or as one of the heirs of the John Weller in his lifetime of Hinesburgh aforesaid, farmer, which said lands tenements hereditaments and premises are situate in Hinesburgh aforesaid and contain ten acres of land more or less together with the appurtenances hereto belonging.
To have and to hold the same unto the said Richard his heirs and assigns for ever.
In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this thirtieth day of December on thousand eight hundred and fifty nine in Cobourg. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of W. Weller ; A. R. Boswell; T. Moore Weller; Canada
Town of Cobourg to wit. Be it remembered that on this thirtieth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-nine at the town of Cobourg in the county of Northumberland and in the Province of Canada before me the undersigned notary public in and for that of the said province formerly Upper Canada, by Royal authority duly appointed, personally appeared William Weller of Cobourg aforesaid Esquire. (A person the me well known) and then and there in my presence and in the presence of Arthur Radcliffe Boswell and Thomas Moore Weller, both of Cobourg, aforesaid gentlemen did duly sign seal execute and as his act and deed delivery the within written deed poll…
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and official seal, R. A,. Weller; (Page 3) Hinesburgh Town Clerk Office Feby 1st 1860 at 4 o’clock P.M. received for record; Attest: J. F. Miles, Town Clerk; End of Deed."
Note: This Quit Claim Deed was taken from "Descendants of Asa Weller OGS Quinte Branch Linda Smith UE" a document at Trenton Public Library, OGS Room – December 16, 2015 (Copied the first 5 pages of the larger document)
Note: Interestingly enough, this sizeable book (bound with a duotang) contains what its title says “Descendants of Asa Weller” but the first few pages are not about Asa Weller at all but contain the Quit claim Deed of William Weller of Cobourg, who was a cousin. This document serves to confirm that William Weller’s father was David Weller and then we can see that David Weller and Eliakim Weller, Asa Weller’s father, were brothers.5
