- Residence: 1809; Conc 5 Lot 28, North Fredericksburgh Twp., Lennox & Addington Co., Ontario; "Near Napanee (Lot 28, concession 5, North Fredericksburgh) is a frame house which commands notice today as it did when it was known as the Fralick Tavern, a popular coaching inn and meeting place. Its special character is due to a common but striking combination of narrow, clapboard, original glass, a pillared verandah, and simple bargeboard. At one time a picket fence surrounded the house and gates and stiles stood at the driveway entrance. Just west of the former inn is one of the eighteen remaining milestones on the Napanee-Kingston road. The host of the inn was John Fralick. He acquired the land in 1809 from Ensign William Crawford and it remained in the family, passing later to Lydia Fralick Van Slyck.

By 1892 James Marshall Ferris was the sole owner. ... When he died in 1893, the property passed to his son, John Berry Ferris. When John Berry Ferris died in July 1920, his son, also called James Marshall Ferris, inherited the land and responsibility for the woodlot. ... when Jay died in 1960, it was his wish that the property remain in its natural state and be available to the public. Family members donated Ferris' Woods to the Sportsman's Club with a stipulation that another group of body would be named to look after the property if the arrangement with the club did not work out. ... In 1962, Ferris' Woods was named a Provinical Park by Order-in-Council and the property was officially transferred to the Province of Ontario in 1963." from pg. 61 & 62 of "Gleanings: A History of Campbellford/Seymour" published in 2000 by The Campbellford/Seymour Heritage Society.13
