DNA tells us that the Parr line from Thomas is actually named Tompkins. Thomas was rumoured to have stolen a horse and therefore had changed his name from possibly Tompkins to Parr. The Gillett's are listed as land owners on a Brighton lot map 1878 .
  Our line is also from the Avery's which is a well known line which includes Captain James Avery .Several family ancestors seemed to come from NY. Just wanted to give an idea of the lineage just in case you knew about these ancestors. Our family is interested in finding earlier Brighton Maps with lot numbers and names of the land owners . Something like 1850 or earlier . I remember seeing something that had Thomas Parr as a early landowner now I can't find it ;-/ I'm pretty sure he was listed next to a lot owned by a Gillett ( Reubin ? ). Reubin Gillett was Mary Parr's father .
  I thought I saw an article you wrote with old Brighton Maps. We are also interested in the area of Manistee Michigan around 1850's 60's .Was wondering if you knew of any lot maps with names in that area back then. Thomas and Mary lived there during the Civil War .Seems like quite a few others moved from Brighton to Michigan during that time. Any help would be appreciated.
