"Killed: Frank Richardson.... " from Roll of Honor, Brighton Ensign, June 16, 1916 (Original copy of paper from Ralph Bangay)
"FIRST BRIGHTON BOY TO GIVE HIS LIFE FOR HIS COUNTRY. PRIVATE FRANK DELBERT RICHARDSON
MEMORIAL SERVICE IN TOWN HALL SUNDAY AFTERNOON. An official telegram from Ottawa on Monday, 27th inst., to his father, Mr. Albert Richardson, stated: "Deeply regret to inform you Private Frank Delbert Richardson, No. 8361, 12th, formerly of the 2nd Battalion, was officially reported killed in action on March 15th. (Signed) Adjutant-General.
Word quickly spread throughout the town, causing universal regret for the loss of a young man held in high esteem, who had exemplified true valor and given his life for his country and the citizens of his home town. The Union Jack was placed at half-mast on the town Hall as a token of respect for a worthy Canadian who fell in upholding the traditions of that flag of justice and liberty. Private Richardson bad been at the front for over a year, and was an exemplary soldier. He was in his 23rd year. A Memorial Service will be held in the Town Hall on Sunday afternoon, April 2nd, at 2:30 o'clock, Resident ministers, military officers and prominent citizens will take part." from pg. 044 of Newspaper Clippings, a collection donated by Shawnee Spencer to the Brighton Digital Archives, 2022.5,6 - Burial*: 16 March 1916; R.
