• Death*: 9 April 1989; Golden Plough Lodge, Cobourg, Northumberland Co., Ontario; "The Late Lorne Darling - Mr. Lorne Darling, a lifetime resident of the Morganston area, passed away suddenly at the Golden Plough Lodge, Cobourg, on Sunday, April 9, 1989. He was 97 years of age. Born in Cramahe Township on May 3, 1891, he was the sone of the late Levi Allan Darling and the late former Ida Walker. He served as Clerk-Treasurer of Cramahe Township from 1941 - 1981 and operated the Morganston General Store during the same years and was a member of Castleton United Church. An active Mason, Mr. Darling was Past Master of Percy Masonic Lodge No. 161, Warkworth. In 1938-39 he was District Deputy Grand Master of Peterborough District. He was a Life Member of Percy Lodge in 1977 and was presented with his 50 years pin in 1979. A Lodge Memorial Service was held Tuesday, April 11 at 6:45 p.m. On February 24, 1915, he was married in Morganston to the former Lilly Jane Massey who predeceased him Oct 24, 1988. He is survived by his son, Earle of Victoria, B. C. and by his daughter, Lorna (Mrs. Allan Johnson). Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Lorne was predeceased by his son, Ivan, daughter, Helen Johnson and by his brotherss Harry, Roy and John. Mr. Darling rested at the Slater-Joliffe Funeral Home, Warkworth, until the time of service which was conducted from the Castleton United Church on Wednesday, April 12, 1989. Rev. Fred Kitson officiated. Interment was in Castleton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Don, Richard and Lawrence Massey, George, Dan and Van Darling, Jr." from Warkworth Public Library, June 17, 2000⁶

On February 15, 1915, she was married in Morganston to Lorne Darling who survives her. Mrs. Massey was a housewife and a member of Castleton United Church. Mrs. Darling is survived by husband, Lorne and by her son, Earle of Victoria B. C. and her daughter, Lorna (Mrs. Allan Johnson of Toronto) and by nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Ivan and daughter Helen Johnston. The last of her family, she was predeceased by brothers Albert, Clarence and Frank Massey and by sisters Stella and Winnifred Massey. Mrs. Darling rested at the Slater-Jolliffe Funeral Home, Warkworth until the time of the funeral service which was held in Castleton United Church on Friday, October 28, 1988 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Fred Kitson officiated. Interment was in Castleton Cemetery.
