Miss Barbara Stratton was born near Brighton, Ont., on Aug. 19th, 1861. Her father, Cyrus Stratton, was a U.E.L. and her mother, Annie M. Lovie, came from Lossiemouth, Scotland. Barbara was educated in the local schools, that is to say, Shiloh Public, Brighton High, Cobourg Middle, and Ottawa Normal. Her first school was Shiloh, where she taught 3 years and then went to normal. All told she spent about 42 years teaching in Ontario and Manitoba, broken by an interval of seven years from 1905 to 1912, when she was Postmistress in the town of Stonewall, Manitoba. ... Retiring in 1932, she moved to British Columbia, living in Vancouver, and later with her sister, Mrs. C. H. Stonehouse at Maple Ridge. ... She is survived by one brother, Rev. W. H. Stratton, Vancouver, one sister, Mrs. Stonehouse, of Haney, B. C. and some sixteen nieces and nephews. The funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. Stanley Berridge, followed by cremation at Mountain View, the ashes being sent to Stonewall, Manitoba, for burial in the family plot. A former pastor and friend, Rev. R. E.
