And do you know the name of the Church that was torn down? Was FredDown married here? And who to? Before he went to Michigan? Was his son Fred born here? I was also wondering of Richard had any sisters or brothers that stayed in England or went somewhere else. We came to a house that you said a Maybee lady loved in with tons of information on the Maybee family. What was her name? and where did she live? Between Jimmie & you on all those sideroads & Conc roads. I didn't know where I was only about half the time. I could find all the places again except where the Maybee lady loved. Was it the house on the way into Richard and Fidelia's house? Angela and I can't wait to knwo what's in the Black Box yuo told Jimmie about. Hope you enjoyed driving around Brighton & Murray Twp. Bye for now. Ferne Down. P.S. Did Richard Henry Down die in 1946 when he was 99 yrs old? I can't remember if you told us Orpha Grosjean's parents names. • Note: 25 August 2006; Brighton Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario; Fred Down has never been married.3
  • Note*: 25 August 2006; Brighton Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario; I took Arnold Boes to meet his friend Fred Down on Friday, August 25, 2006. Fred lives on the farm just to the east of David Down, his nephew; Fred is the brother of David's father, Wes Down. Fred wanted me to look at some old papers he had with a view to placing them in a museum or achive, if they were of any value. I took the lot; he was anxious to be free of them. Fred was more interested in his porblem with memorials at McPhail's. There is a family dispute re the original memorial for Richard H. Down and the later memorial which includes Richard, his wife Fidelia Maybee and sons Samuel and William. Not sure I can add to the info re this but will look at cemetery transcriptions.3
