He was also a soldier in the Revolution. A Lazarus Puffer enlisted for three years in the eighth CT Line, under Colonels John Chandler and Giles Russell. The only Puffer family in CT in 1790, according to the Federal census of that year, was Sarah of New London County, living probably in Hebron or vicinity with two daughters (three females in her family).
