Mr. Boulter's life was a long, useful, and honorable one. He was born near Montreal on Decembert 4th, 1799, and was consequently upwards of 84 years of age. His first visit to Belleville was paid many about 1819, when he brought some goods hither for sale, but so pleased was he with the locality that he married Miss Peck (aunt of Mr. J.R. Peck and his brother) and purchased a farm on Big Island, whither he removed, and which he cultivated with much success unitl, in his declining years, he removed to Belleville about twenty-five years ago. Here Mr. Boulter purchased a good deal of property which he occupied himself administering. He leaves a widow (his second wife) and a family of fourteen - seven daughters and seven sons (amongst the later Dr. George H. Boulter, ex-M.P.P.) surviving him. His death was gradual and peaceful, and formed a fitting and to a well-spent life.
