Note: A researcher interested in Charles Selleck and George Gibson history, sent me the marriage info for Charles Selleck and Elizabeth Gibson in Niagara in 1797. I downloaded the PDF containing Volume III saw this item with the name Farewell. Sarah Bennet was John Farewell's wife. He had died in 1781 and she came with her kids to Newark and then York. She got land at York and this Crawford proved to be less than useful, but her kids were looked after and given a good start in the new country.
The name Crawford also comes from The Story of the Speedy in Historic Sketches of Oshawa, http://localhistory.oshawalibrary.ca/pdfportal/pdfskins/kaiser/kaiser.pdf, page 11. Sergeant James Crawford "59 lb. Sugar Serjt. Cranford" - footnote "Sergeant James Cranford of the Queen's Rangers settled in Etobicoke Township and owned a tavern. Note: The family of James Ewing and Polly Doolittle was clearly in Haldimand Twp., Northumberland County, Upper Canada at the time that Charles was born. He might not have recalled this later and since his father's family had come to Canada around 1808 or so, this is a common mistake. Unless family lore has something about his mother going back to Vermont for his birth specifically, we can say that Charles was born in Upper Canada. He may also have deliberately said born in Vermont to avoid the hassle re immigration. That, also, was not uncommon.

We never knew anything about him. You see the home that had his info burnt down. My father Ronald W. Ewing search for over 50+ years not knowing anything about his 2nd great Grandfather. He left all the family tree info to me and said try to figure it out. He passed away in 2014 I decided this last spring that I would get DNA Tested. I was DNA tested and Had a Uncle DNA Y tested. We linked my Uncles YDNA to Ewing foundation.. Ha! They had know Idea where we belong. Then I had matches coming up, I had no idea where they belonged. So I started 5 mirror trees.
Low and be hold I match my cousins from Mary "Polly" Doolittle , And many off Naomi Cooley..
They only way they fit was when I connected my grandfather Charles Ewing to James and Mary Polly Doolittle. Even to Sinclair family from one of the Ewing girls marrying down the line! So can you tell me what info you have to help me. All I know is DNA doesn't lie.. and the Ewing foundation does not believe because I have no paper trail. I look forward to hearing from you.
