In 1964 it was decided that Bob and Nancy needed their own cottage. Bob walked all the properties offered for sale along the shoreline, from the direction of the lighthouse towards the reedbeds and marsh. He finally found “Summercot,” a tiny cottage with no facilities, and in August of that year they moved in. Presqu’ile eventually became their permanent residence. Over the years, additions and improvements were added to their cottage.
An indoor swimming pool was installed, and a “great” room built over it, looking out over the water. Other structural changes were the break wall, which almost doubled the garden area, with its lawn and flowerbeds, gazebo and fold-down docks and boat launch, and the addition of a green house on the roadside of the house.
