He arrived in Seymour in 1834 from Scotland. In 1835, he returned to bring his wife and four children to their new home. Lieutenant John V. Geary, who settled on Lot 19, Concession 10, near Crow Bay in 1834, sheltered the family over the winter of 1835-36. A cabin was built on Robert's property in the spring of 1836 not far from the present park office. The remains of the foundation can still be seen. When Robert Sr. died in 1855, his property was left to his wife, Elizabeth who sold the homestead in 1859 to their eldest son, Robert, for the sum of five shillings. The brick house that Robert and his wife, Mary, built north of the present part office burned in 1924 and a smaller house was built on part of the old foundation. This house and the surrounding three acres did not become part of the park. Robert, Jr. was a clerk, licence inspector, auctineer and farmer. He opened a brickyard on his property on the outskirts of town in the sping of 1887. The old press in the brickyard was still in the field in 1928. ... When Robert Jr. died in 1888 the homestead, along with other property, was dividied amoung the family. William (1865-1943) remained on the farm. He and his wife Jessie (McKelvie) had two daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Oscar Rannie) and Ella (Mrs. Allan Curle). After William died in 1943, the farm, left to his wife, Jessie, was sold to Oscar and Margaret Rannie in 1945." from pg. 60 of "Gleanings: A History of Campbellford/Seymour" published in 2000 by The Campbellford/Seymour Heritage Society.2 He died in 1855 at Conc 5 Lot 10, Seymour Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario; Date 1855 per email from Dave Rannie, Apr 28 2009.
