(Newer) Note: "Good afternoon from Colorado. No, no, no William is not a son of Josiah, or Gilbert. Josiah & Gilbert are brothers, and brothers to Darius & Jason. And, these brothers are sons of Thomas Herns (many variant spellings). Josiah & Gilbert are UEL's and so their children were SUE or DUE. All "drew" their free land and I have copies of the children's land petitions, there is no William. Also, Josiah & Jane (Bartley) Herns children all have christening records, except one, and her name & father's was listed on a UEL land petition of Josiah's when the Surrogate Council said UEL's were eligible for additional lands." per email from Gladus Boice, May 6 2011.
(New) Note: An email from Gladys Boice, May 3, 2011, indicated that there was no William Hearns in the family of Gilbert per a Crown Land Petition that names all of Gilbert's children. In that case, William is being placed with Josiah Hearns due to the match in dates and location. In the 1851 Census, Wm. and Margaret Harnes are below both Thomas Harnes/Druzilla Page and George and Amanda Harnes. One GEDCOM (Donna Barraclough) shows a William with Josiah but with no other info. Is it THIS William???
(Old)Note: I have placed this William Hearns with Gilbert just because He is in the 1851 Census just below George and Amanda Hearns who are just below Thomas and Druzilla Hearns. I have no evidence of who his father was - he does not seem to be represented in research of others. Does anyone know where he should be???1,2,3,4,5 He married Margaret Cook before 1844 at Lennox & Addington Co., Ontario; per 1851 Census. per Death Reg'n. of William Hearns.1,2 William Hearns appeared on the census of 1852 at Fredericksburgh Twp., Lennox & Addington Co., Ontario; Age 51 at 1851 Census: Hearns, Wm., 51, b. Note: Thomas Hearns and Druzilla are at the top of this group and George and Amanda Hearns are just above William and Margaret.
