So Charles and Jonathan were brothers and their wives were first cousins once removed. Because of this, Jonathan Fiddick's descendants are all relatives of the Philip descendants." from page 86 of "Ours To Remember" by Mary Ann Down, given to me by Shirley (Goodfellow) Bird, Sep. 3, 2004.
Note: Stitching this together was interesting. The GEDCOM of Dallas J. Manicom provided the Oke family, showing that Philippa Oke was a daughter of John Oke, a brother of Mary Oke who married John Philp. The parents of John and Mary Oke, and their other siblings, was William Oke and Christian Baker, according to this tree. Then, stepping back from Mary Ann (Mutton) Down to her Great-Grandmother, Mary (Oke) Philp, we can see that Philippa is a neice. On page 86, the reference in the middle of the page to Grandmother Philp's half-brotheris curious - maybe just a mistake. The description lower on the page makes it clear. circa 1860 at Ontario.1 He appeared on the census of April 1871 at Brighton Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario; Age 39 at 1871 Census: Fiddick, Jonathan, 39, b.
