She took great delight in dress and in dancing, but Israel's unslumbering Shepherd was watching over her, for when she was seventeen years of age, circumstances transpired which brought her into the family of a Friend, where she resided two years, and though it seemed hard for her at that time to leave her indulgent parents, yet afterwards she saw that the hand of Providence was in it, in order to check her in her vain career. It was there she was led to see the folly of her ways. The pious example set her by the heads of the family - the happy, cheerful and contented habits of the young people-shed a hallowed influence over her, and made a deep and lasting impression." from Deborah Clark Memorial by her Husband, Quaker Meeting Records, pg. 207 of 2429, - linked to family tree of coopercaroll on ancecstry.ca, Sep 22 2021. Consequently, on 10 Aug 1797, Mary's petition for lands was heard and she was recommended for 350 acres. Her grant consisted of W1/2 and SE1/4 Lot 21 and all of Lot 22, Con. 4, Murray County, Northumberland County. Mary died some time before March 1828, possibly even years earlier." Note: There were no references to Brock in the land records for Adolphustown, at least the area close to the town. The Patents from the Crown for Lots 21 and 22 in Murray Twp. are directly to Samuel Brock.1

  • Death*: before 1820; Dutchess Co., New York, U.S.A.; per family tree of Missy Berryann on ancestry.ca, Sep 18 2021.
  • Note*: circa 1818; The family tree of coopercaroll on anccestry.ca shows John Brock, born Nov 25 1766 to be the same John Brock who lived in Murray Township and died in 1860. This in spite of the 1851 Census which shows him to be 70 years old, not 85, as it would be if he was born 1766. There are no connections I can see between the John Brock of Murray Twp. and the Samuel Brock and Isaac Brock who also lived there in the early and mid-1800s. A few trees have another death date and location for the John Brock born 1766 but this seems to be a mysetery. (Dan Buchanan, Sep 21 2021.)
