  • Note: 1930; Spring Valley Pavilion, Spring Valley, Northumberland Co., Ontario; "Spring Valley Park was located along the east side of the highway about a mile north of Brighton. However, the Spring Valley Pavilion, built by Tom and Harry Kenny, was built across the park from the highway on the north side of White’s Road. At one time there was a small sawmill at the edge of the park just across the road from the pavilion. The pavilion was built around 1930 and had a good dance floor installed. Weekly dances were held here every summer for the next few years - usually on Saturday nights. The music was country and western and there were generally three or four square dances per night along with the round dances. Music was provided by musicians from the local area with small groups of three or four plus a caller for square dances.
    In the winter of 1940 heavy snow caused the roof to collapse and the building was tom down and never replaced. A private home occupies the site today but a bit of the old pavilion foundation can still be seen." from Summer Dance Pabilions, J. f. Delong, pg. 62.
