- Father*: William Weller1 b. 13 May 1799, d. 21 Sep 1863
- Mother*: Mercy Wilcox1 b. 2 Nov 1804, d. 20 Aug 1843
- Birth*: circa July 1843; Cobourg, Northumberland Co., Canada West; Per obit of Mercy Wilcox.1
- Death*: 3 August 1843; Cobourg, Northumberland Co., Canada West; "1843, Aug. 3, W. Weller, hearse hire" from Thomas B. Clench's list of "Coffins and Funeral Charges", Cobourg Public Library, July 20, 2016.
"Mercy Wilcox died unexpectedly before the end of August 1843. Earlier in the month, before her death, an entry in an account book of Thomas Clench, a cabinetmaker, shows that a small hearse was provided to William Weller on August 3. No birth or death information is available, presumably for an infant. Clench was again called upon to provide a hearse, this time in August 20, when Mercy died. Her obituary in the Cobourg Star and Newcastle General Advertiser of August 23, stated that death occurred in Toronto, "to which place she had gone on a visit on Sunday 20th instant, after a short illness which she endured with examplary patience and resignation, in the 39th year of her age. She left a numerous family to regret her loss." Her tombstone in the Old Kirk Burying Ground in Cobourg bore the inscription, "Sacred to the Memory of Mercy Wilcox. Wife of Wm. Weller of Cobourg. Who Departed This Life 20th August 1843. Aged 39 y's." There were seven living children, several of whom were still quitge young at the time." from "John Laing Weller, C.E., M.E.I.C.; The Man Who Does Things" by Madelein "Peggy" Muntz, pg. 51
